Integrated Security (Cont)
The SX Integrated Building Security System consists of up to 128 Clover door, lift and vehicle barrier access controllers and alarm controllers connected by a multi-drop 4-wire twisted pair cable running RS485 communications to a line sharing module (LSM) and thence via RS232 communications to a PC and printer.
The PC software allows the user to program a database of up to 10,000 card holders and of site and controller parameters. It stores and analyses details of card use and alarm activation from all parts of the site. Fully password protected, it has easy-to-use menu driven facilities and colour graphic real-time displays of doors, lifts & alarms. The system can minimise the use of energy by being programmed to switch off lights and heating automatically in unoccupied areas where this is consistent with safety. Specified doors can be automatically unlocked in the event of a fire or emergency.
WHAT ACCESS CARDS AND READERS CAN THE SYSTEM USE ?
To cater for a wide variety of security and environmental requirements the system offers magnetic stripe cards with and without photographs, rf proximity and hands-free cards, smart cards, and Dallas Semiconductor Touch Buttons.
WHAT ARE THE FEATURES OF THE CLOVER ACCESS CONTROLLERS ?
A DOOR CONTROLLER can control access at one door, turnstile or vehicle barrier. This controller has an entry reader as standard, and can optionally have an exit reader which enables the recording of the times when personnel leave an area or building for both security and time & attendance purposes. A LIFT CONTROLLER is programmed with the numbers of floors (normally up to 16) at which a card holder may alight.
Data concerning card validity, timezones, anti-passback etc. and records of card use are stored within the memory of the controller as well as in the PC. This enables the controller to continue functioning normally in the rare event of a fault developing in the PC or communication system.
